Springfield High School, located on South Limestone St., designed after the Congressional Library at Washington, D.C. and completed in 1909." This is a photograph of Springfield High School in downtown Springfield, Ohio. The school building was completed in 1909 and is located at 700 South Limestone Street. It was modeled after the Congressional Library and is known for its large white dome. In 1960, the school was split into two high schools, North and South, when Springfield's population continued to grow. The building is still in use today for administrative offices. At the top two corners of main division of building fronting on Limestone St. are mounted two 18-foot eagles, one on each side of the entrance facade, said to be the world's largest fully-molded eagles and used in ornamental construction." This photograph is of the U.S. Post Office located at 150 North Limestone Street, Springfield, Ohio 45501. Construction began on this Art Deco style building in 1934 and has several murals by artist Herman Henry Wessel. In the 1970's these mural were covered up during energy conservation remodeling on the building, but in 2009, restoration began to restore these murals and the two story skylight. Covenant Presbyterian Church, N.W. cor. of Limestone and North Sts. is a stone structure of 14th century Gothic style of church architecture, built in 1930. The property represents an investment of over half a million dollars, and is the last word in church construction." Covenant Presbyterian Church is located at 201 North Limestone Street on the northwest corner at the intersection of North Street. Designed by George D. (E. ?) Savage. Using Indiana limestone, it has the appearance of a medieval cathedral with its beamed ceilings, richly carved detail, high Gothic arches and transepts and hand wrought swinging chandeliers. The tower stands 120 feet tall. Stained-glass windows patterned after Old World cathedrals have been designed by P.J. Reeves of Philadelphia. Completed in 1927, the building cost $515,000 to build.
